A Quick Visit to the West

With a imminent trip to Teton and Yellowstone NP in the cards, we started north through Colorado.  Having a few days to burn, we opted to visit a few areas we were interested in beforehand.

The valleys of Central and Western Colorado are an interesting drive, even more so with insane truckers and high winds.  


Swinging through Salida CO, we had a few nice camps.





This is probably the coolest, and most hipster, spare-tire cover I have seen.  Knit yarn!


It was still fire season.  Several times we came across fresh and long-active fires.


This one is pretty far off thankfully.


Nearing the Wyoming border, we actually drove right under this smoke plume.


There was zero smoke at ground level thankfully, so we got a great view.  Clear skies to the left and right, and deep shadow below the plume.



The ubiquitous pronghorn.


And a red fox.





Our next stop was Teton NP.
