Jen and I (Jonathan) decided to leave our jobs, pack everything we couldn't carry into storage and set off traveling in our 1982 VW Vanagon Camper known as Chuck. Our Aim? To have as much fun as possible while exploring strange locales, meeting random strangers, and keeping Chuck in one piece. I know, we are certifiably crazy, but that's why its so much fun!
After flogging Chuck across the continent we returned to the USA for a hiatus and to earn funds for our next adventure. We built a new adventure rig (Sprinter van) to explore even more amazing places. On the list is Australia, New Zealand, and Tasmania. We are even considering driving from Tierra Del Fuego back to the USA. We are departing in the end of 2016. Stay tuned and follow along with our adventures wherever you are!
In January of 2017 we flew to Australia to meet our vehicle. We are currently touring Australia, and exploring all it has to offer.
A trip from Tierra Del Fuego to the USA - I can highly recommend that! It's also easy and reasonably cheap once you have your van there. We've done it 2006-09 and are currently back for more. See our site dare2go.com
ReplyDeleteBut first enjoy our home country Australia and all it has to offer!
Yep! Definitely on the list. Just figuring out when to do it!

ReplyDeleteMy name is Stacie and I just read your Princess and the Pea blog. My husband and I are Roadtrekers (Journey 2)and are much older than you and Jonathan? Your story is unfortunately all to common. I had the same issues in my 20's and after the birth of my 3rd child had a partial hysterectomy...BEST DECESION of my life!
When it comes to health care you are your own best advocate!!! Nobody knows your body better than you do and never stop fighting for yourself!!!
Happy travels to you both
Hi Stacie! Thanks for the information! I always appreciate hearing other people's stories. Happy travels to you as well!
DeleteMark, See https://vagariesabound.blogspot.com/2018/08/leaving-nz.html . There is a photo of the shipping wheels. Typically when you pay for shipping like this, they will load the container for you. If you do it yourself, you need to have them provide a ramp to get the vehicle up the few inches to the deck height. Choosing a double door container lets you pull the vehicle up the ramp, reducing the risk of damage.
