We decided to leave Vancouver via the Sea to Sky Highway 99. This gave us lovely views of the harbors along the route. And, our camping spot of the night, though itself trashy and rough-looking, had a path that led to a lovely view, complete with fire ring and seats to watch the sunset.
The next day we made a visit to Shannon Falls.
Then, we tested our mettle with the steep climb to the 2nd peak of Stawamus Chief.
While we were eating lunch on the peak, a couple of cheeky ground squirrels tried to get some lunch off us.
We also did a wander down Cheakamus Lake trail, which was a lovely forest trail ending in a beautiful lake.
A common loon.
Then we did a walk up to 2 of the glacier-fed Joffre Lakes.
Spotted a pika or two along the way! They were bigger than I thought (about the size of a small rabbit).
We made just a pit stop at Duffey Lake for a photo op.
The scenery along this highway is truly quite beautiful. It was difficult to capture with a lens.
